2011년도를 뒤돌아보면서, 내게 있어서 최고의 국내앨범은 칵스의 앨범이고, 해외앨범은 마마스건의 앨범이었다.
두 팀 모두 평소에 내가 좋아하는 장르에 속한 뮤지션이 아니었음에도 불구하고 최고였다.

사실 칵스의 앨범을 들으면서 이들이 한국밴드가 맞나 싶었다.
우연히 접하게 되었는데 좋아서 한동안 정신 못차리고 계속 붙잡고 들었다.
만약 한국 밴드라고 말 안했으면 그냥 외국밴드인 줄 알고 들었을 지도 모르겠다.

신선하다는 단어가 제일 잘 어울리는 앨범이어서 좋았던 것 같다.
앨범을 들으면서 예상 가능한 부분이 하나도 없이 모든 면에서 신선했다.
특히 'oriental girl'의 기타 리프와 보컬의 발음은 아예 새로운 국적의, 그냥 칵스만의 노래를 만들어낸다.

나이도 어린 밴드인데, 데뷔작부터 너무 좋은 앨범을 내버려서 부담이 되지 않을까 싶으면서도,
이 정도 개성이라면 뭘 해도 할 것 같아서 계속 기대하게 된다.
